This magical place is the product of the passion of Mr. Manolo Hidalgo and his wife, Mrs. Hortémida Murillo, to create a sanctuary of tranquility in the middle of nature. With roots dating back to the very founding of La Fortuna, the Hidalgo Murillo family transformed their ancestral land of agriculture and livestock into an oasis of peace that calls to those seeking comfort and well-being.
Mrs. Hortémida’s recognition of the hidden potential in these lands led to the creation of a complex of hot springs and fresh water springs, in which respect for nature and family unity have been present since its origins.
In just over 30 years, these natural wonders have evolved from family recreational treasures to the heart of a thriving ecotourism enterprise. More than 25 years ago, the doors of Ecotermales Fortuna opened to the world, marking the beginning of an extraordinary journey that now employs more than 50 dedicated people committed to the brand’s mission.
Our story continues as a testament to sustainable practices, conservation and culinary excellence, guided by an unwavering commitment to preserving local aquifers and wildlife. Thanks to this, today Ecotermales Fortuna is synonymous with ecological care and unmatched hospitality.

One of the best things to do in La Fortuna is to find true peace while enjoying the therapeutic embrace of our modern and intimate volcanic hot springs, with temperatures ranging between 99°F and 106°F (37°C to 41°C). Plus, you can stroll hundreds of meters of paved rainforest trails, share romantic moments next to the waterfall, and enjoy refreshing cocktails at the poolside bar.
